Why are clamps so important?
Hydraulic clamps are used to clamp a workpiece with pressure. Manual clamps are used to support a workpiece that is being cut or reshaped. What makes hydraulic clamps different to manual clamps is that these devices use hydraulic fluids as part of the clamping process.
These fluids allow for greater operating pressure, which in turn results in higher clamping even when using smaller clamping cylinders. When designed and used correctly a hydraulic clamp will prevent any piece of machinery from moving.
Hydraulic clamping reduces operator workload and load and unload times by automating the clamp and unclamp cycle, due to this automation, clamping forces are more consistent and hydraulic clamps allow for the automation of part loading and unloading.
When choosing hydraulic clamps you should consider the pressing force required, how the clamp will be installed, the direction the clamping arm moves, the size and what support is available for that clamp.
Clamps are also used to hold and secure hydraulic pipes and prevent unwanted movement or the separation of pipes.
